There are many conditions which have a pain presentation; but often chronic pain is neuroplastic in nature: that is, the pain has disconnected from the original cause, and continues from within the central nervous system.
Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) is a new treatment for neuroplastic pain, and other unexplained somatic symptoms. Recently published research confirmed its impressive efficacy.
However patients who have difficulty keying into its main concepts may choose a therapeutic bridge, in the form of IFS-informed EMDR and/or clinical hypnosis.
In sessions we typically start by reviewing the medical history, including clinical records of investigations and treatments received. This is for clinical safety; as well as leading directly into PRT.
